Write Or Die Announcements (Updated)

I apologize for this rather late set of announcements (haven't been checking out the blogs of friends lately). Read Or Die has announced its non-fiction series of talks for January, 2008:

January 12 (Saturday): Maribel Garcia
Science Writing
Powerbooks Greenbelt, 2-4PM

January 20 (Sunday): Isagani Cruz
Writing Literary Criticism
Powerbooks Greenbelt, 2-4PM

January 26 (Saturday): Butch Dalisay*
Creative Non-Fiction
Powerbooks Megamall, 2-4PM

Well, this announcement is too late for January 12, but you can still catch the other two.

*Sir Butch's talk has been moved to Feb. 2, 2007, Powerbooks Trinoma, due to ongoing renovations at Powerbooks Megamall.

(Regarding name in writer column) Sir, letter C po, not K.

The online handle is EK, but the name in the birth certificate is Erica. While I've been teased about it for ages, it's the princess in Daimos who is spelled with a K. ^^

Hi EK. I checked the Inquirer article of Ruel De Vera. He did use a "C".

Daimos?! Erika? That's from my time! At last, a pop reference we can share! May I tease you too?

May "Reeechard" ka na ba? ;) Hyuk-hyuk.

Hi, Sir Butch. I'll make the corrections asap, and make an extra blogpost too.

It was a pleasure to have gone. I learned a lot from Mr. Gordon; and really, that room was so full of good writers! Like I mentioned in an email to you, if a bomb had gone off there and then, a good chunk of RP writers would've bought it, and RP literature would've been set back many years!

This wishful-thinking writer was stuck on duty last Thursday. Even if I wasn't, I don't get off until 5.

Thank you for changing the sidebar.

And no Richard yet. ^^ As I said, I'm an 80s-90s girl, so while I do know and saw Daimos and Voltes V, I more clearly remember the 2nd anime wave (that started with Cedie and DBZ).

Hi EK. Sadly, I don't remember the second wave at all, don't know Cedie or DBZ. I stopped with those robot shows, didn't finish them because then Pres. Marcos banned them officially because they wree violent, but allegedly because the people importing the shows wouldn't give in to corruption and surrender to him and his cronies a slice of the pie. So my generation had no resolution in their lives until the shows came back in the 90's. That's also why Marcos made enemies of one whole generation...because he didn't let us finish Voltes V! Kaya na-laser sword siya sa amin. ;)
