"Books Solve Problems"

"Through books, our kids would know about their culture, history and understand the world. Books are like seas. You have to dive into the sea to get the pearl. You have to read books to know how to solve your country's problems," Shah Muhammad Rais said.

"Unless, we reintroduce the habit of book reading, we will have more illiterates and more trouble," he said.

Well, said, sir! And more power to you!

Here is an article about Shah Muhammad Rais, the biggest book-seller in violence-torn Afghanistan: Kabul Book-Seller Uses Web To Spur Reading. His goal is to get his war-weary countrymen interested in reading again. We can learn from him, certainly.

Reminds me of this book (haven't read it yet, but I will, after the NBS Sale): The Camel Bookmobile.

Interesting book, Dom. I should look for it. I still enjoy young adult books very much.

Someone wrote a book about Rais I think, but he didn't like the portrayal very much.

Thanks for the reco!
